It's da balm!
Influenced by bees, Tested by locals, Made with intention.
And so it was born...
Jimmy’s Balm grew out of curiosity, craft, and a lifelong connection to the outdoors. As a beekeeper in Santa Cruz, I’ve always believed that nature gives us everything we need — if we pay attention. One day, while working with beeswax from my own hives, I started experimenting with simple, plant‑based formulas that could replace the petroleum‑heavy products we all use without thinking. What began as a small batch mixed on my workbench turned into the first tubes of Chain Balm — a natural, beeswax‑based chain lubricant that a local crew of sixteen riders (“OTC”) and other Santa Cruz bike fanatics tested across every kind of terrain. Mud, dust, rain, long climbs, coastal air — they pushed it harder than I ever expected. And those early tests proved something important: nature can outperform synthetics. As word spread, something unexpected happened. A local bag maker, Crendo Bags — a Santa Cruz craftsman building fanny packs for bikes, sail bags for the coast, and all kinds of rugged everyday carry — started using my formulas on his gear. He needed something clean, fabric‑safe, and reliable for the zippers on his handmade bags. That collaboration led to the creation of Zipper Balm, a natural glide designed specifically for outdoor gear, wetsuits, packs, and the bags Crendo builds right here in town. Today, both Chain Balm and Zipper Balm carry the same philosophy: simple ingredients, real performance, with a light footprint. Every tube is hand‑poured in small batches using beeswax from my hives and plant oils chosen for their purity, durability, and environmental responsibility. These balms are my way of helping keep your gear running smooth, while helping protect the earth we love, one tube at a time. If you want to explore the full lineup, you can find everything in my Products.
